It also has, neatly wrapped and painlessly delivered, the author's philosophy of life, which, in spite of his irreverent reputation, is not so different from that of—well, say Dean Inge. The only point on “which the Dean and Mr. Van Vechten might differ would be the personnel of the Ways and Meany Committee.
