What you’re looking at

This is a **hotel advertisement** for Statler Hotels, not a political cartoon or satire. It's a straightforward commercial promoting the Statler chain's amenities and pricing. The page emphasizes what made Statler Hotels distinctive for the era: every room guaranteed private bath, running ice-water, full-length mirror, desk, reading lamps, and other conveniences—luxuries not universal in hotels at the time. The ad stresses transparency (posted room rates), competitive pricing (news stand items at street prices), and service guarantees. The signature at bottom appears to be from the Statler company leadership, adding authority to the "Guarantee of Statler Service" section, which promises courteous employee treatment. For modern readers, this reflects an early 20th-century hospitality standard where private bathrooms in every room were still novel enough to advertise as major selling points—now basic expectations in hotels.
