The committee, which was composed of representatives of all of the States west of the Mississipp to the number of about sixty, became the guests of the people. All the doors of all the railway trains aad hotels were open to them, the free use of the telegraph lines was tendered, carriage drives, excursions on the water, banquets and oyster-bakes filled in the time for two octhree weeks.
