Little Alice, the family liabili resting at homg and she has picked up the new copy of Jupce that Papa brought in, which she will read until time to start for the evening scrimmage. Papa isn’t enjoying his putting practice at all, but it’s the only way he has of dominating the family just at this hour. He had intended to read Jupee him- self until time to tune in for the Quarrelsome Quartet, broadcasting at eight-thirty. As a matter of fact, the radio is not going to work because earlier in the day little Junior tried out a stunt he saw in the radio section and it worked great, except that it put the B batteries out of commission, and at Mother’s suggestion the little rascal is keeping a safe distance from Papa, who is not yet aware that he has a young Edison on his hands. Mother, who is terribly old-fashioned, has been trying to find out where Alice spent last week-end and at the same time keep Ronald, the family critic, from overhearing. Alice got the car last night and the new copy of Jupce tonight and Brother Ronald is terribly hurt. He is submerging his troubles in the family gin.
