Miss d’Algy’s theft is the more astonishing because she is new to the screen. I don’t remember having seen her before and my recollection of her past is that she appeared as an extra in a picture or two and was found by some astute director. The trouble with “The Sainted Devil” is that it’s neither good enough to make one believe that a saint had a finger in it or bad enough to cause you to suspect the devil had a hoof in it. And Valentino is made to strut too much. You get the idea that he’s being forced and Valentino doesn’t need that. You get too much of him. He is shot in so many scenes, is shown off in so many costumes, you wonder why they stopped short of showing him in B.V.D.'s The story is disjointed. Probably the eagle eye that is directed solely at the box office may be diverted toward making a good picture next time. Let us hope so. But my eagle eye is alive to the anticipation of seeing Miss d’ Algy in her next picture. © Die Dark Swan” came into my consciousness like a dark horse in the great motion picture sweep- stakes and like the proverbial dark horse it ran away with the race. It’s a very good picture, splendidly acted by Helene Chadwick, Marie Prevost, and Monte Blue in the featured réles. There is an absorb- ing tale told of the little Cinderella girl who steps aside for her more physically attractive sister. ‘There is also some very good work done hy John Patrick as a gay young cake- eating bounder about town. If you don't see “The Dark Swan” don’t blame me. You'll be sure to see “The Sainted Devil” because you wouldn't think of missing Valentino in anything he does and you'll just love every twist of his adorable hes. You’ want to see Pola twist of her perfect shoulder, but if you are at all wise you'll not miss “The Dark Swan.” It wins by a neck.
