The Sleeping Potion HE prince, after the hundred years had passed, had reached the interior of the palace. Everybody was sound asleep. He entered the room where the sleeping rrincess lay; he kissed her but failed to waken her; then he showered her with kisses but still she slept. “Those fairy tale writers must have had the wrong dope,” he grumbled. The whole palace was sleeping— a sleep so deep that no kiss could ever waken it to life. The prince noticed a hum in the air—a murmur as of voices speaking. It seemed to lull him; he was on the point of going to sleep himself but by a mighty effort he roused him- self and followed the sound. “No wonder they slept,” he said.
