For singles thirteen cards are dealt to each player. One of the players starts serving by lead- ing a card. If the other player has a card of the same number in his hand, he puts it down, which means he got the ball, and then he returns another one. In fact it is played exactly the same tennis. Here is an example of play: A le nine spot, B hasn't any. Score— Fifteen love. A leads a two spot, B puts down a two spot and leads back a A hasn't any six. Fifteen \ (who is serving) leads a ten, B hasn’t one. Score—Thirty Fifteen. A leads a King, B one, and returns a Jack. A has a Jack, and returns a three. B hasn't any. Score—Forty Fifteen. A leads another nine. B hasn’t any. Score—Game. Then B serves. Doubles are played the same way only the teans sit opposite each other, as in tennis. Thirteen cards are dealt to each aver. Team mates must not look at each other’s hands. Either player of a team may play on the card, and the one that plays on it must return another. Quite a bit of trickiness can be devel- oped in Card Tennis. For example, if 20 no running about, glasses once a player holds three of a kind in his hand the chances are that he has three “Ace” balls, but it is wise to hold them until he gets the lead. Also. by remembering the different plays certain cards can be made good. Another thing we forgot to mention. You won't need a golf suit for this game, you won't have to belong to a club and stain tennis player who just returned from abroad! ’ PUNG CHOW Column Also known as MAH JONG ByL.L.
