When I caught Mister Huggard kissing Sister Jane she said I was a Jonah, and I got whaled.” Boy— TEN, OF COURSE! HEN the historical editor brought up the old question as to how many were the offspring of John Rogers, the martyr, who, the rec ords tell us, had “nine small children, and one at the breast,” the mathe- matical editor, having successfully fixed the date which will henceforth end the century, took time to remark, “ We always carry one for every ten.” CURED THE WRONG DISORDER. Mrs, Emdee —*You said to-day that you had cured that man you were doctoring for asthma, Here the evening paper says he died of con- sumption.” Doctor Emdee —* Yes, et—et—my dear, | wasn't doctoring him for consumption ; just asthma.” AWAY TO THE WESTWARD. _ NEAR-SIGHTED RANCHER —"* Well, I'll be derned if that thar hog hain't growed a foot since yesterday.
