Its action is pervading and Weak persons and chronic invalids find Vino- Kolafra a delightful life-giving cordial. It tones the nerves and strengthens and regulates the Nothing compares with ion and debility. From U. S. CONSUL Lewis. Eleven Years in Africa. Mr. padsen A. Lewis, who was for eleven years United States Consul at Sierra Leone, where he enjoyed exceptional facilities for ob- taining knowledge concerning the sterculia nut or bean, reports as follows : “No better proof of its rare ability to invig- orate and brace the system and enable it to undergo great exposure, privation and labor is needed than the universal testimony of the natives. They have used it for centuries under circumstances of the most trying character. “The nut is also an antidote to strong drink, and subdues the craving for it. It seems to have a soothing action upon the nerves of the stomach, preventing or satisfying thirst. “The nut is harmless. uring my eleven years in Africa I never noted or heard of a sin- gle instance where injury or bad effect followed Its use.” AN ANTIDOTE TO ALCOHOL. Stops the Craving for Liquor. Vino-Kolafra is very prompt to act and makes a sober man out of the habitual drinker by sup- plying the place of alcohol without producing the toxic or reactive effects of alcohol. In other words Vino-Kolafra satisfies the craving for strong drink and affords the longed-for stimulus without the customary sequence. As an exam- ple of the medical testimony available on the point, we may cite that of Dr. J. D. Crothers, an expert in the treatment of alcoholism. In a report published in a late number of the /our- nal of Inebriety, Dr. Crothers says : “Vino-Kolafra has been used as an antidote for the poison of alcohol, and some authorities have called it a specific. We have made a study of its action in several cases of acute and chronic inebriety. The plan was to discontinue all spirits and give two or three ounces of Vino- Kolafra every two or three hours. Result: The acute symptoms quickly subsided, the pa- tient became easy, the stomach distress and the demand for spirits subsided. In two cases sleep followed, from which the patient awoke Tested.” HARMLESS. None need hesitate to use Vino- Kolafra through apprehension that it may resemble the orainery Tine of stimulants, It is even less harmful than tea or coffee. Explorers in Africa say they never knew a case of harm arising from the use of the sterculia nut. The same is true of Vino-Kolafra, its product. Guard against imitations under similar names.
