# BEYOND Fantasy Fiction, September 1954
This issue features five novelets and short stories blending science fiction, fantasy, and bizarre premises. James E. Gunn's "The Beautiful Brew" opens the issue: a brewery board meeting where the head of the Blitz brewery's latest beer mysteriously sculpts itself into the shape of a beautiful foam-girl—defying the rational materialism of board members like Baldwin while enchanting younger promotions manager Alberg. The tale explores the tension between wonder and commerce in the brewing trade.
Additional stories include Sam Merwin Jr.'s "It's Not the Heat," Wyman Guin's "The Root and the Ring," and shorter pieces by Franklin Gregory, Manly Banister, Fredric Brown, Robert Berne, and Ralph Spencer titled "Earth Shaker," "Room Without Windows," "Double Whammy," "See Me in Black," and "Kash and the Lemurs." The magazine was edited by H. L. Gold and published by Galaxy Publishing Corporation at 35 cents per copy.
