# AMAZING STORIES, Issue 2

This issue, edited by Hugo Gernsback with Dr. T. O'Conor Sloane as Associate Editor, leads with Jules Verne's A Trip to the Center of the Earth, serialized across multiple installments. The story follows young Harry, who studies geology under his uncle Professor Hardwigg, a German scientist living abroad. When the Professor discovers an ancient manuscript hinting at a passage to Earth's interior, he resolves to undertake the expedition. The narrative involves the uncle's discovery, conveyed in the professor's characteristically fractured, stammering manner.

The issue includes advertisements for N.R.I. radio training courses and various novelty items (ventriloquism kits, magic flutes, sex-indicator toys). Gernsback's editorial thanks readers for the first issue's reception, noting approval of the magazine's scientifically-grounded fiction over "sex-appeal" stories, and announces forthcoming serializations including Edgar Rice Burroughs, stories by Clement Fezandie, and H.G. Wells's The War in the Air.
