Heliotropium salicioides Cham., Type Specimen
· Collected 1841–1842, Bahia, Brazil
This is a herbarium sheet, not a cartoon or caricature. It holds pressed botanical specimens of Heliotropium salicioides collected by J.S. Blanchet (nos. 3402 and 3402b) in Bahia, Brazil, and held by the Natural History Museum, London. The sheet carries a 'SYN TYPE SPECIMEN' label referencing H. strictissimum A.DC. A color-calibration card and metric rule were added for photographic reproduction. No satirical, printmaking, or caricature tradition applies here. Writing a wall label framing this specimen as political satire would be factually false, and no honest curatorial label can be produced on that premise for this image.
