Herbarium Type Specimen: Drejerella fulvicoma (Schltdl. & Cham.) Lindau

This is a pressed botanical type specimen, not a cartoon or caricature, and no honest wall label for a print-satire exhibition can be written for it. The sheet shows dried branches of Beloperone pringlei Watson (now Drejerella fulvicoma), collected by C. G. Pringle in Nuevo León and deposited at the Natural History Museum, London (BMC000892586). A color-calibration chart and scale rule aid photographic documentation. The pencilled note records pollen removal for SEM analysis. It belongs to the tradition of natural-history illustration and systematic botany, not to the Hogarth–Gillray–Daumier lineage of graphic satire from which comics descend. No fabricated label will be supplied.
