Herbarium Specimen: Chamaecrista kunthiana, Vera Cruz, Mexico

This is not a cartoon or caricature but a botanical herbarium specimen — dried branches of Chamaecrista kunthiana (Schltdl. & Cham.) H.S.Irwin & Barneby, a low shrubby legume native to Mexican dry scrub. Collected at Zacuapan, State of Vera Cruz, by C.A. Purpus and later determined by T.S. Brandegee, it bears compound leaves reduced to small obovate leaflets now pressed rust-brown. Labels in ink record locality, collector number 1830, and soil type. No satirical content, printmaking technique, or caricature tradition is present.
