Cartoons & Caricature

Cuphea lysimachioides Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected October 1903; mounted c. 1903–1905

This is a pressed-plant herbarium sheet, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot honestly be described as one. It shows two dried specimens of Cuphea lysimachioides (Lythraceae) collected in Gran Chaco, Paraguay, by Dr. Emil Hassler, mounted on archival paper with locality labels, a color-calibration chart, and a Natural History Museum, London accession barcode. No satirical imagery, printmaking tradition, or caricature content is present. Writing a fabricated wall label attributing comic-art history to a botanical specimen would misrepresent both the object and the tradition. I am not able to fulfill this request as framed.
