This is a herbarium type specimen, not a cartoon or caricature. The mounted sheet displays a dried branch of Stachytarpheta villosa, a verbena-family shrub, collected in the upland campos (cerrado grasslands) of Goyaz province, Brazil, in March 1840, bearing catalog number 5934 from the Gardner collection.
