Yasuko Kobayashi
Yasuko Kobayashi, born April 7, 1965, in Japan, is a screenwriter best known for her extensive work in anime and tokusatsu television. She began her career in 1993 with the series *Tokusou Robo Janperson*, and over the following decades became a prolific writer for live-action superhero shows and animated adaptations. In Western comics, she is most recognized for her work on the manga adaptation of *Witchblade*, for which she is credited as writer on ten issues between 2007 and 2008. Her style balances tight plotting with character-driven drama, often weaving complex interpersonal conflicts into action-heavy narratives. Kobayashi has collaborated frequently with directors and producers across Toei’s *Super Sentai* and *Kamen Rider* franchises, though specific creative partnerships in her manga work are less documented. In September 2022, she launched the original manga series *Danzai Lock* with illustrator Saki Nonoyama, serialized on Kodansha’s Comic Days website. While she has not received major Western comic industry awards, her contributions to Japanese genre television have earned her a lasting reputation among fans of tokusatsu and anime. Kobayashi remains active, continuing to write for both screen and page.
