Teddy Kristiansen
1964–
Teddy Kristiansen was born on 29 July 1964 in Denmark, and he built a career as a comic book artist whose work often leans into mystery, horror, and suspense. He is best known for his haunting, painterly style, which earned him an Eisner Award for Best Comics Painter in 2005 for his work on the Superman graphic novel *It’s a Bird...*. Kristiansen also contributed a chapter to Neil Gaiman’s celebrated *The Sandman* series, illustrating part of “The Kindly Ones” arc. His distinctive approach was showcased in DC’s *Solo* #8, a spotlight issue devoted entirely to his art. Over a career spanning from 1990 to 2025, Kristiansen has been credited on 64 issues as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer. His most frequent titles include *House of Secrets*, *Black Hammer: Spiral City*, *Superman: Metropolis*, *The Dreaming*, and *Witchcraft*. While his work often collaborates with writers like Steven T. Seagle on *It’s a Bird...*, Kristiansen’s visual storytelling remains the defining element. His legacy is that of a quiet, meticulous craftsman whose atmospheric pages have left a lasting impression on both mainstream superhero comics and more introspective, supernatural tales.
