Romano Felmang
Romano Felmang, born in Rome in 1941, is an Italian artist recognized for his clean, expressive renderings of classic American comic strip characters, particularly The Phantom and Flash Gordon. He entered the field in 1962 with an unpublished Phantom story titled *Kaniska*, which nonetheless impressed the Spada brothers, neighbors who published Italian comic books. Military service delayed his debut; his first published work, the Phantom story *Raiders of the Great King Tomb*, appeared in 1966 through the Spadas. Over the following decades, Felmang drew numerous Phantom adventures, as well as strips for Flash Gordon, Rip Kirby, and Secret Agent X-9. Since 1987, he has produced extensive work for SEMIC International, with his art appearing in Italy, France, Scandinavia, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. In the United States, he contributed covers to *Comics Revue*.
