På väg hem till Bengali räddar Fantomen och Nuran en brittisk löjtnant från ett gäng pirater. Löjtnant Cable tjänstgjorde på HMS Atropos när det togs över av pirater under Turkomans ledning, ombordsmugna av adelsmannen sir Lacey Talbot. Syftet var att kidnappa amiral Nelsons käresta, lady Emma Hamilton, för att locka Nelson i en fälla. Fantomen och Nuran förklär sig till sjömän och besegrar Turkoman. Fantomen tar befälet över skeppet och förmår Nelson att skona besättningen, som annars skulle hängts för myteri.
