Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri, born 29 February 1944 in Venice, Italy, is a comic book writer and illustrator renowned for his hyper-detailed renderings of the human form, especially in erotic contexts. He is best known as the creator of the *Druuna* series, a science fiction saga blending body horror, dystopian themes, and explicit sexuality. Serpieri’s path into comics began in the 1970s, and his first credited work appeared in 1975. His signature style—meticulous cross-hatching, anatomical precision, and a cinematic sense of composition—set him apart in European adult comics. He often worked alone, writing, penciling, inking, and coloring his own stories. Key collaborators were limited, as he maintained tight creative control over his projects. Beyond *Druuna*, his notable works include *Morbus Gravis*, the series’ first chapter, and contributions to anthologies like *L'Eternauta* and *Lanciostory*. Serpieri’s influence endures in the realm of erotic science fiction, and his art has been exhibited internationally. He received the Yellow Kid Award at the Lucca Comics Festival, one of the industry’s highest honors in Italy. Active from 1975 to 2021, he remains a singular figure in comics, celebrated for his uncompromising vision and technical mastery.
