Mike Cavallaro
Mike Cavallaro is an American comic book writer and artist best known for his work in middle-grade comics, including the graphic novel series *Nico Bravo* and collaborations with acclaimed author Jane Yolen, both published by First Second Books. Born in New Jersey, he grew up there and later attended The Kubert School. Before entering comics, he performed in New Jersey punk bands, even contributing a song to The Bouncing Souls' 1995 album *Maniacal Laughter*.
Cavallaro's semi-autobiographical webcomic *Parade (with Fireworks)* debuted on the Act-i-vate collective and was later collected as an Eisner Award-nominated two-issue limited series by Image Comics. He frequently collaborates with writer J. M. DeMatteis on projects such as *The Life and Times of Savior 28* (IDW, 2009), *Impossible, Incorporated* (IDW, 2018–2019), and stories in *Occupy Comics* and Archie's *The Fox*. His extensive credits as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer span 74 issues from 1992 to 2021, with notable runs on Valiant titles like *Shadowman*, *Secret Weapons*, *Solar, Man of the Atom*, and *Magnus Robot Fighter*, as well as *Cartoon Network Action Pack* and *Eternal Warrior*.
Cavallaro serves as Vice-Chairman of the Manhattan Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society and is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts.
