Mau Heymans
Born on 14 April 1961 in the Netherlands, Mau Heymans is a Dutch comics artist and writer who has built a long career working within the Disney universe, particularly on Scrooge McDuck stories. He began his professional work in 1987, primarily as an illustrator, though he has also written scripts — some in collaboration with Kirsten de Graaf — and has produced work for the Dutch publisher Oberon.
Heymans draws in a style rooted in the tradition established by Carl Barks, distinguishing his duck characters with notably elongated necks and beaks. That consistent visual sensibility has made his work recognizable across the many publications where it has appeared, including *Donald Duck*, *Donald Duck & Co*, *Aku Ankka*, and *TrosKompas*, among others. According to catalog records, he has been credited as artist, inker, and writer across nearly 300 issues, with activity spanning at least 1990 through 2025 — a body of work that reflects genuine staying power in the European Disney comics scene.
His older brother Bas Heymans is also a Disney comics artist, and the two share a closely related visual approach, making their work stylistically difficult to distinguish at a glance. While no major awards are documented in the available sources, Mau Heymans' decades-long contribution to Dutch and international Disney comics publishing represents a substantial and enduring creative legacy.
