Lucho Olivera
Ricardo Luis Olivera, known professionally as Lucho Olivera, was born in Argentina in 1942 and died in 2005. He was a prominent Argentine comic book artist and writer whose career spanned from 1966 to 1998, during which he contributed to over seventy issues across several titles including *D'artagnan*, *Skorpio*, and *Euracomix*. Olivera is best remembered for co-creating the long-running historical adventure series *Nippur de Lagash* alongside writer Robin Wood, a classic of Argentine comics. He also created and wrote *Gilgamesh the Immortal*, widely regarded as his magnum opus. His work often blended meticulous historical detail with a dynamic, expressive line, and he was equally comfortable as an artist, inker, and writer. Olivera's collaborations with Wood were particularly fruitful, producing some of the most enduring characters in Argentine popular culture. Later in life, his legacy as a foundational figure in the country's comic industry remained secure, and his contributions have been recognized with major awards, cementing his place as a key architect of the Argentine comic tradition.
