Lou Ferstadt
Lou Ferstadt was an American muralist and comics artist, born Louis Goodman Ferstadt on October 7, 1900. He died in August 1954. While his early career focused on mural painting, he found a significant second act in comic books, working steadily from 1942 onward. Ferstadt is best known for his contributions to the Golden Age, particularly his work on *Super-Mystery Comics*, *Blue Beetle*, *All-Flash*, *All-Star Comics*, and *Blonde Phantom Comics*. He also contributed to the humor title *Animal Toons*. His style, shaped by his fine arts background, brought a distinctive, often dynamic quality to both superhero and adventure stories. Ferstadt often handled multiple roles on a single issue, serving as artist, inker, letterer, and writer. He collaborated with many of the era's top talents, though specific co-creations are not widely documented. His later life saw him return more fully to mural work, and he remained active in the arts until his death. While he did not receive major industry awards during his lifetime, his body of work across more than twenty issues remains a solid example of the versatile skill set that defined many of the Golden Age's most prolific contributors.
