Hal Seeger

Harold "Hal" Seeger was born on May 16, 1917, and passed away on March 13, 2005. An American animator, producer, and director, he is best remembered as the creator of the 1960s cartoon series *Batfink*, *Milton the Monster*, and *Fearless Fly*, which aired through his own studio, Hal Seeger Productions. Before his television work, Seeger was active in comics from the 1930s into the 1950s, writing and drawing for newspaper strips and comic books. He notably contributed to the *Betty Boop* comic strip and co-created the humor series *Leave It to Binky*, which became his most credited title in our catalog, along with other features like *Muggy-Doo, Boy Cat* and *G.I. Jane*. His style blended broad, slapstick comedy with energetic, cartoony artwork, often collaborating with writers and artists in his studio. Seeger’s later years saw a shift away from comics toward animation, where his shows became cult favorites for their playful, low-budget charm. While he did not receive major industry awards, his work left a mark on Saturday-morning television and comic-book humor of the mid-20th century.
