In the main story, a boy assures his sister that a man-eating shark won't hurt her while they float on a raft in the ocean. The issue also includes "The Mystery Girl," and a story titled "Melvin in The Dream Man" in which Melvin reveals to his friend that he dreamed he was going to marry someone named Oswald, prompting comedic reactions from those around him.
A teenage boy borrows his sister's cologne to impress the new chemistry teacher, Miss Biltwell, but when she tells his sister that studious types are more her style, he decides to fake it with borrowed glasses—a disguise that backfires spectacularly during a lab experiment. When his clumsy mishap accidentally gold-plates Miss Biltwell's shoe, everyone thinks he's discovered the formula for making gold, leading to a hilarious unraveling of the truth.
When Ollie decides to make his girlfriend Sister Blair jealous by claiming he has a date with a sophisticated mystery woman, Sister and her friend Carol turn the tables—calling Ollie for a blind date while Sister disguises herself in a wig and heavy makeup. What starts as a scheme to expose Ollie's bluff spirals into an unexpected turn at the El Patio nightclub, complete with a case of mistaken identity and newspaper photographers, leaving both of them scrambling to save face.
When Babs decides to practice her future nursing skills on her brother, a playful bandaging session spirals hilariously out of control—leaving him thoroughly wrapped up while she races off on an errand, only for their neighbor Mrs. Blair to stumble upon the peculiar scene. A trip to the museum later offers Babs a sobering lesson about the consequences of fooling around.
Melvin is dismayed when his friend June reveals she had a dream about marrying his rival Oswald, so the jealous boys squabble over her affection while she seeks answers at a nearby gypsy tea room. A mix-up with the fortune-teller's reading sets the stage for an unexpected romantic outcome that leaves Oswald decidedly unhappy.
