Gerard Conway
Gerard Francis Conway was born on September 10, 1952, in the United States, and passed away on April 26, 2026. He is best known for co-creating the Punisher, the Jackal, and the first Ms. Marvel for Marvel Comics, as well as writing the pivotal death of Gwen Stacy in *The Amazing Spider-Man*. For DC Comics, he co-created Firestorm, Power Girl, Jason Todd, and Killer Croc, and wrote *Justice League of America* for eight years. Conway also scripted the first major modern-day intercompany crossover, *Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man*. His path into comics began early, and he became a prolific writer across genres, including science fiction and television. His signature style combined gritty realism with emotional depth, often working with collaborators like Ross Andru and John Romita Sr. Later in life, he transitioned into television writing and producing, leaving a legacy as a key architect of both Marvel and DC mythologies. He received multiple industry honors, including an Inkpot Award.
