Evert Geradts
Born in The Hague on 9 June 1943, Evert Geradts is a Dutch cartoonist who built his career in two quite distinct phases. He first came to attention through underground comics, working in the countercultural tradition that flourished in the early 1970s, before making a decisive pivot toward mainstream and family-oriented material. That transition proved enormously productive: Geradts went on to become one of the more prolific contributors to the Disney comics universe in the Netherlands and beyond, working as writer, artist, inker, and letterer across a body of work spanning more than five decades — from 1970 through at least 2024.
His name appears most frequently in connection with Donald Duck and related titles such as Donald Duck & Co and Klassisk Donald Duck, alongside Dutch publications including Sjors en Sjimmie Stripblad, Sjosji, and TrosKompas. That breadth of credits — 218 issues across a range of roles — speaks to a genuine versatility rather than narrow specialization.
In 1977, Geradts and Leny Zwalve jointly received the Stripschapprijs, one of the more respected recognitions in Dutch comics, honoring their contributions to the field. The collaboration with Zwalve marked an important creative partnership during a formative period in his career.
