David S. Kenzer
David S. Kenzer is best known as the founder and publisher of Kenzer & Company, the Waukegan, Illinois-based company behind the long-running comic-magazine hybrid *Knights of the Dinner Table*. Born in the United States, Kenzer built his career at the intersection of comics and tabletop gaming. He entered the industry by launching KenzerCo in the early 1990s, initially focusing on role-playing games and campaign settings like *Kingdoms of Kalamar* and the *HackMaster* RPG system. His signature work, however, became *Knights of the Dinner Table*, a monthly publication that blends comic strips with RPG content, chronicling the misadventures of a group of gamers. Kenzer wrote for the title and its spinoffs, including *Knights of the Dinner Table Illustrated* and the *Bundle of Trouble* series, working with artists and writers such as Jolly R. Blackburn. He also oversaw licensed *Dungeons & Dragons* comics and the fantasy magazine *Black Gate*. Kenzer’s later career saw the expansion of KenzerCo into board games like *Dwarven Dig* and *Elemental*, as well as card games such as *Monty Python and the Holy Grail*. While he did not receive major individual awards, his company’s work earned a dedicated following in gaming and comics circles. Kenzer remains active in the industry, with his imprint continuing to publish new material.
