Clark Haas
Clark Haas was an American cartoonist and animation producer, born Clark S. Haas Jr. on July 21, 1919. He is best remembered as the owner of Cambria Studios from 1957 to 1965, where he oversaw the creation of the limited-animation television series *Clutch Cargo* in 1959. Haas began his career in comic books, working as an artist, inker, and writer across several titles during the late 1940s and into the 1950s. His most credited work appeared in *Kathy*, *Famous Funnies*, *Television Comics*, and *Tuffy*, as well as a Swedish edition featuring the character Rosco Sweeney from the strip *Buz Sawyer*. His style was straightforward and functional, suited to the demands of both comic book deadlines and the cost-cutting animation techniques of Cambria Studios. Haas died on January 18, 1978. While his output in comics was modest, his role in bringing *Clutch Cargo* to television secured his place in animation history, particularly among fans of early, resourceful TV cartoon production. No major awards are recorded for his work.
