Allen Bellman was an American comic book artist whose career began during the Golden Age of the medium. Born on June 5, 1924, he entered the industry in 1943 and worked steadily for decades, with credits spanning from that year to 2009 across 35 issues. He is best remembered for his work on *Captain America Comics*, *Marvel Mystery Comics*, *The Human Torch*, *Sub-Mariner Comics*, and *Blonde Phantom Comics*, as well as the later science-fiction title *Space Worlds*. Bellman’s style was energetic and clear, well-suited to the action-packed superhero and adventure stories of the era. He often collaborated with writers and editors such as Stan Lee, and his art helped define the look of Timely Comics’ flagship characters during the war years. Among his notable co-creations is the Blonde Phantom, a costumed crime-fighter who debuted in 1946. After the Golden Age, Bellman continued in the industry, contributing to various genres before retiring from regular comics work. He passed away on March 9, 2020. While he did not receive major industry awards during his lifetime, his contributions have been recognized by historians and fans as an important part of early Marvel history.
