Who is Yagzan?

A Jack Kirby creation arriving in the Bronze Age heat of 1974, Yagzan made their mark in the pages of Giant-Size Man-Thing — one of Marvel's more deliriously strange corners of that era — sharing those swampy, atmospheric stories with the likes of Man-Thing, Human Torch, and Susan Storm Richards. Kirby's fingerprints alone make any debut worth a second look, and with appearances stretching across half a century in the catalog, Yagzan occupies a genuinely rare niche: a Bronze Age original whose footprint, however compact, has proven surprisingly durable. Three appearances may be a small number, but in the wild, wonderfully weird world of 1970s Marvel horror-adjacent comics, even a sliver of Kirby magic is worth tracking down.
