Wild Dog
Jack Wheeler, a small-town Iowa car mechanic and former college student, became the vigilante Wild Dog after personal tragedy drove him to don a hockey mask and take the law into his own hands against criminals and terrorists plaguing the Quad Cities.
Bursting onto the scene in 1987's Superman #7 courtesy of the legendary John Byrne, Wild Dog is a gritty Copper Age creation from DC Comics who carved out a niche in the anthology pages of Action Comics Weekly alongside the publisher's biggest names. With appearances across Superman and Action Comics and at least one collector-recognized key issue to their name, this is a character who punched above their weight in a crowded era. The company Wild Dog keeps is genuinely rarefied β sharing pages with Superman, Green Lantern, and Bruce Wayne himself β making these appearances a fascinating snapshot of late-'80s DC at its most ambitious and eclectic. Thirty-four catalog appearances across a compact run makes Wild Dog a rewarding deep-dive for fans who love hunting the overlooked gems of the Copper Age.

Trivia
- Wild Dog never launched into a traditional ongoing series β instead, DC funneled him straight from his four-issue miniseries into Action Comics Weekly, making his early-career migration one of the more unusual publishing detours in late-1980s comics.en.wikipedia.org
