Validus
Validus is a towering, nearly mindless giant and one of the most physically formidable members of the Fatal Five, assembled to battle the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th century. His transparent skull, through which a storming, lightning-like brain is visible, makes him as terrifying to behold as he is devastating in combat.
Born in the Silver Age pages of Blackhawk #229 in 1967, courtesy of creators Bob Haney and Dick Dillin, Validus is one of DC's more haunting presences β a towering, fearsome figure whose very name carries weight across nearly six decades of comics history. With appearances stretching from 1967 all the way to 2026, this is a character who has genuinely endured, turning up most prominently in Legion of Super-Heroes and The Brave and the Bold, and earning a coveted entry in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe β the ultimate sign that DC considered them essential canon. Sharing pages with titans like Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, and Garridan Ranzz speaks to the rarefied company Validus keeps, and with at least one collector-recognized key issue to their name, any serious DC reader has good reason to seek them out.
