Sluggo

Sluggo is a street-smart kid and the scrappy best friend of Nancy, the spunky niece of Fritzi Ritz, appearing in the long-running comic strip adapted for Dell's Sparkler Comics. Rough around the edges but good-hearted, he grew up poor on the wrong side of the tracks.

Sluggo burst onto the Golden Age comics scene in 1942 — courtesy of creator Bernard Dibble in Sparkler Comics — and proved durable enough to keep readers company for an extraordinary eight decades. A Dell Comics fixture, he's most at home in the pages of Nancy and Sluggo, Nancy, and Tip Top Comics, sharing those classic strips with Nancy herself and even crossing paths with the beloved Peanuts gang — Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and Linus among his page-mates. With a key issue to his name and a publishing life stretching all the way to 2022, Sluggo is a quiet testament to how a Golden Age kid can outlast almost everyone else on the newsstand.
