Nancy
Dell · 1957–1959 · 28 issues
About the series
In the late 1950s, Dell Comics brought Ernie Bushmiller's classic newspaper strip Nancy to the comic book page, with cartoonist John Stanley writing most of the 28-issue run alongside artists Dan Gormley and Stanley himself. This series expanded the world of the perpetually bemused Nancy and her friend Sluggo, while also featuring surprising crossovers with Charles Schulz's Peanuts characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Lucy. Though short-lived, it stands as a curious and charming meeting of two iconic comic strips, blending Stanley's sharp, character-driven humor with Bushmiller's minimalist gag aesthetic.
