Sin-Eater
Sin-Eater is a shotgun-wielding serial killer who targeted authority figures in New York City, believing himself a vessel of divine punishment. His murderous campaign brought him into brutal conflict with Spider-Man in a storyline notable for its grim, realistic tone.
Few Bronze Age villains made an entrance quite as chilling as Sin-Eater, who burst onto the Marvel scene in 1985's The Spectacular Spider-Man #108, courtesy of Peter David and Rich Buckler. Emerging from that gritty mid-eighties era when Marvel wasn't afraid to go dark, Sin-Eater carved out a place in Spider-Man's rogues' gallery that collectors still talk about β that debut issue carries genuine key-issue weight. Over the decades, this haunting figure has kept dangerous company, sharing pages with Spider-Man, Kraven the Hunter, and Electro, and turning up across landmark runs of The Amazing Spider-Man all the way into the 2020s with Sinister War. Forty years of appearances is no small thing β Sin-Eater is proof that the Bronze Age's most unsettling corners of the Marvel Universe have a very long shadow.
