Manikin
Manikin is a Canadian superhero who became a member of Alpha Flight, Marvel's premier Canadian super-team. He possesses the ability to summon earlier and later evolutionary forms of himself as separate physical beings, effectively manifesting his own past and future human evolution as allies in combat.
Debuting in Marvel Age Annual #3 in 1987, Manikin is a Copper Age creation from the minds of Steve Englehart and Al Milgrom, stepping onto the scene as part of Marvel's rich Canadian corner of the universe. With most of their appearances concentrated in Alpha Flight, this character has kept remarkable company β sharing pages with heavy hitters like Sasquatch, Box, Vindicator, and Kara Killgrave β placing them squarely in some of the most distinctive superhero storytelling Marvel was doing at the time. Though their overall footprint in the catalog is modest, a nearly four-decade publishing span and at least one key-issue appearance speak to a character who has genuinely endured in the hearts of dedicated Alpha Flight devotees. For collectors who love digging into the deeper roster of Marvel's beloved Canadian team book, Manikin is exactly the kind of find that makes longbox hunting worthwhile.
