Karlota emerged from the pages of Love and Rockets in 1989, born from the singular imagination of Gilbert Hernandez during one of the most creatively fertile periods in alternative comics. A Fantagraphics character through and through, she inhabits the rich, sun-drenched world Hernandez built alongside luminaries like Luba, Maricela, and Ofelia Beltran — a cast as vivid and complicated as any in the medium.
