Jay
Jay is the loud-mouthed, wisecracking street-level slacker best known for loitering outside a New Jersey convenience store alongside his taciturn partner Silent Bob, bringing their irreverent humor from Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse into comics form.
Straight out of the mid-'90s Modern Age, Jay burst onto the scene in Overstreet's Fan #6 (1995) courtesy of creator Scott Clark, and has been a fixture of Dark Horse's irreverent corner of comics ever since. With a catalog presence stretching across three decades and titles like Quick Stops, Jay & Silent Bob, and Clerks: Holiday Special, this character has carved out a genuinely devoted readership among fans who love their comics with a side of slacker wit. Jay shares the page with a colorful crew β Silent Bob, Dante Hicks, Randal Graves, and even Spider-Man among them β making for some wonderfully unexpected company. With a key issue already to the character's name and 33 appearances logged, Jay is a Modern Age cult gem well worth tracking down.
