Who is I-Ching?

I-Ching is a blind Chinese martial arts master who became mentor and guide to Diana Prince after she surrendered her Amazon powers. He trained her in hand-to-hand combat and Eastern philosophy, serving as her partner during her powerless, mod-spy era.

A Silver Age original born from one of comics' most daring reinventions, I-Ching made his debut in Wonder Woman #180 in 1969, courtesy of the visionary team of Denny O'Neil and Mike Sekowsky. This enigmatic DC figure emerged during a genuinely experimental era, when the publisher was unafraid to shake its most iconic titles to their foundations, and I-Ching has kept remarkable company ever since β€” sharing pages with Wonder Woman herself, Superman, and Steve Trevor. What makes him truly fascinating is his staying power: a character born in the late Silver Age who has resurfaced across titles as varied as Detective Comics and New Super-Man & the Justice League of China, proving that a well-crafted presence can echo through decades of storytelling long after his debut moment has passed.
