Who is Höken?

Höken is the Swedish-market edition of Blackhawk, the legendary aviator who leads an elite international squadron of fighter pilots. Published by Formatic, the title brought Swedish readers the aerial adventures of this wartime hero and his colorful multinational team.

Stepping out of the Silver Age with a distinctly Scandinavian flavor, Höken made their debut in 1957 courtesy of the creative team of Dick Wood and Dick Dillin, launching a run that would stretch well into the mid-1960s across titles including Höken and Rymdmannen under the Swedish publisher Formatic. With around 40 catalogued appearances, this is a character who built a loyal readership sharing adventures alongside a colorful cast that includes Hendrickson, Chop Chop, Stan, André, and Chuck. For collectors with a taste for international Silver Age comics and the offbeat corners of the medium's golden era of experimentation, Höken is a genuinely rewarding discovery.
