Ernst
Ernst is a young mutant student at the Xavier Institute, introduced during Grant Morrison's New X-Men run. Appearing childlike and simple, she forms a notably close bond with No-Girl (Martha Johansson), a disembodied mutant brain, the two becoming inseparable companions.
Debuting in the pages of New X-Men #135 in 2003, Ernst is a Modern Age Marvel creation born from the visionary collaboration of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely β one of the most celebrated creative teams in X-Men history. With a catalog presence stretching across fourteen years and appearances alongside heavy-hitters like Wolverine and Beast, Ernst clearly left a mark well beyond that landmark debut. Small in number of appearances but collector-significant in at least one key issue, this is exactly the kind of quietly compelling character that rewards the dedicated fan who digs deeper into the Morrison era's rich, strange corners of mutantkind.
