Doppelganger
Doppelganger is a monstrous, six-armed spider-like duplicate of Spider-Man spawned during the Infinity War event, when the cosmic villain Magus created evil doubles of Earth's heroes. Feral and barely sentient, it operates on savage instinct rather than human intelligence.
Born from the chaos of the Infinity War crossover era, Doppelganger first lurched onto the Marvel stage in Quasar #38 in 1992, courtesy of writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Greg Capullo β a genuinely unsettling creation from one of the Copper Age's most fertile creative periods. This creature has carved out a dark niche in Marvel's nastier corners, keeping company with some of the publisher's most dangerous figures: Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage all share pages with this thing, which tells you everything about the sinister neighborhood it inhabits. Collectors will find Doppelganger turning up across landmark collections like the Carnage Epic Collection and Extreme Carnage: Scream, as well as the more recent Chasm: Curse of Kaine, proving this Copper Age oddity has remarkable staying power well into the 2020s. If you love Marvel's darker, weirder edges β the corner where horror bleeds into superheroics β Doppelganger is absolutely worth tracking down.
