Who is Doctor Occult?

Doctor Occult is a supernatural detective and one of DC's earliest heroes, created during the Platinum Age. Trained in the mystic arts, he investigates occult threats and paranormal cases, wielding magical knowledge and a mystical symbol called the Mystic Symbol of the Seven.

One of the oldest souls in the DC universe, Doctor Occult first stepped out of the shadows in More Fun Comics in 1937 — a genuine Platinum Age original, conjured by the creative team of Leger and Reuths at a time when comics were still finding their footing. Over a remarkable span stretching across 76 years, this enigmatic figure has kept extraordinary company, sharing pages with legends like Doctor Fate, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Wonder Woman, and Superman — the very pillars of the DC cosmos. His appearances across More Fun Comics, JSA, and the infernal corridors of Reign in Hell speak to a character who has quietly threaded himself through the grandest and darkest corners of DC history alike. For collectors and historians, Doctor Occult is a rare treasure: a direct line back to the very dawn of superhero comics, still haunting the margins of the DC universe decades later.
