Who is Devastator?

Devastator is the massive Decepticon combiner formed when the six Constructicons — Scrapper, Scavenger, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Bonecrusher, and Hook — merge into a single devastating giant, making him one of the most physically powerful warriors in the Transformers universe.

Crashing onto the scene in 1985's The Transformers #10, Devastator is a Bronze Age titan brought to life by Bob Budiansky and Ricardo Villamonte — a figure imposing enough to share pages with the likes of Optimus Prime, Soundwave, Ratchet, and Bumblebee. Over four decades of publication, this Transformer has stomped through crossover territory as well, turning up in both G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers and G.I. Joe and the Transformers, proof that some characters are simply too massive a presence to be contained in a single corner of the universe. With a catalog history stretching all the way to 2025, Devastator is one of those enduring icons whose debut issue alone makes any Bronze Age collection feel more complete.
