Who is Deerdevil?

Few characters capture the gleeful absurdity of Marvel's funny-animal universe quite like Deerdevil, who bounded onto the scene in 1986's Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham #7, courtesy of creators Steve Skeates and Mark Armstrong. A product of the Copper Age's wonderfully irreverent corner of Marvel, this pun-perfect parody shares pages with the likes of Peter Porker himself, Bunsen Bunny, and Batt Burdock — a rogues' gallery of anthropomorphic comedy gold. With only a handful of appearances to their name, Deerdevil is a rare find, the kind of deep-cut character that rewards the dedicated collector who loves their Marvel history served with a side of wit.
