Comic Book Guy
Comic Book Guy is the pompous, encyclopedic owner of Springfield's Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop, known for his withering critiques and obsessive devotion to pop culture — a satirical embodiment of comics fandom transplanted from The Simpsons TV series into Bongo's comic universe.
Few characters capture the spirit of comics fandom quite like Comic Book Guy, who made his four-color debut in Simpsons Comics #58 in 2001, brought to the page by James Bates and Óscar González Loyo under the Bongo Comics banner. A Modern Age creation, he's spent over a decade popping up in Bongo's celebratory free-comic-book-day offerings and promotional titles, rubbing panels with the likes of Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, and Milhouse Van Houten. With only eight catalog appearances, he's a delightfully niche find — the kind of character whose scarcity makes each issue feel like a treasure worth hunting down.
