Betty Kane
Betty Kane was the original Bat-Girl of the Silver Age, the niece of Batwoman Kathy Kane who adopted a costumed identity partly to impress Robin and fight alongside her aunt as a junior crimefighter in Gotham City.
Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff introduced Betty Kane to the DC Universe in 1963's Batman #159, making her a true Silver Age original whose footprint stretches across five decades. She moves in rarefied company β sharing pages with the likes of Robin, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, and Batgirl β which tells you everything about the caliber of the world she inhabits. With appearances spanning Batman, Batman Annual, and DC Comics Presents: The Teen Titans, she's a character woven into the fabric of some of DC's most beloved corners, and collectors will want to note that at least one of her issues carries genuine key-issue significance. Modest in total appearances but rich in pedigree, Betty Kane is exactly the kind of Silver Age gem that rewards the curious fan willing to dig a little deeper.
